Explanation of this prayer

At the tip of my fingers resides Goddess Lakshmi (prosperity),
at the center of my palms dwells Goddess Saraswati (wisdom),
and at the base of my palms abides Goddess Gauri (strength and auspiciousness).
Therefore, I behold my hands every morning with reverence.

This short morning mantra is recited upon waking up, before looking at anything else.
It reminds us that all prosperity, knowledge, and divine power lie within our own actions and efforts.
By seeing divinity in our hands, we begin each day with gratitude and awareness of sacred energy within us.

Explanation of this prayer

The Guru is Brahma, the Creator;
the Guru is Vishnu, the Preserver;
the Guru is Maheshvara (Shiva), the Destroyer.
The Guru is verily the Supreme Brahman, the Absolute Truth.
I bow down in reverence to that divine Guru.

This mantra honors the Guru as the embodiment of all aspects of the Divine —
creation, preservation, and transformation.
It reminds the disciple that the true teacher is a living expression
of the highest spiritual wisdom and truth.

Context: Lord Shiva explains to Goddess Parvati the greatness, divinity, and oneness of the Guru with Brahman, the Supreme Reality. In Essence, The Guru Gita teaches that the Guru is not merely a teacher, but the living bridge to the realization of the Self (Atman).

भगवान शिव का 108 नामों का माला। ऋग्वेद मण्डल 2, मंत्र 33 (RV 2.33) से रुद्र के गुणों की स्तुति, जिसका समय 1700–1200 ईसा पूर्व है, बाद में शिव पुराण में पुनः संकलित की गई, जहाँ विष्णु पार्वती को 108 नाम सुनाते हैं।

Yoga Mantra

Mantra is a universal practice — every religion expresses it in its own way, through prayer, chanting, sacred words, or sound, all sharing the same inner purpose: to connect with the divine.

A mantra is a sacred sound, syllable, word, or phrase repeated during meditation and other yogic practices to invoke specific energies, focus the mind, and harmonize the body and spirituality within. Rooted in ancient traditions, mantras are considered to have powerful vibrational frequencies that influence the mind, subtle body, and consciousness.

The repetition of mantras, known as japa, helps in quieting the mental fluctuations, enhancing concentration, and establishing a deep connection with the present moment. By aligning the practitioner’s energy with the vibrational qualities of the mantra, these practices can activate and balance the chakras, support prana flow, and elevate spiritual awareness. Mantras are an integral tool for deepening meditation, promoting mental clarity, and cultivating inner peace in advanced yogic practices.
