GURUJI MURUGAN CHILLAYAH

GURUJI MURUGAN CHILLAYAH (MALAYSIA) was born in Malaysia and is a dedicated founder and mahaguru (grandmaster) in various disciplines of Indian traditional arts, Hindu culture, and yogic science. As a humble Hindu monk with over 30 years of experience, he has spent his lifetime studying and sharing the ancient practices of Indian traditional arts and traditional weapons handling in the Himalayas. Initiated as Brahmacharya-Sanyasi at Omkarananda Dipeshwar and anointed "Karthikeya Baba" among some yogis and sadhus for his ascetic life cultivating an aesthetic sense of simplicity and beauty of traditional teachings in the Himalayas, where he continues to deepen his knowledge, share his wisdom, and most humbly serve the community.

The Executive Committee is committed to strategic planning, training development, and curriculum for arts and sports while safeguarding traditions, ethical operations, compliance, and sustainability through strategic leadership, guidelines implementation, analysis on yoga ethics, international cooperation, preservation, development, and international advancement of yoga, securing its authenticity and relevance for future generations across diverse cultures.

History & Development

World Yoga Association (WYA), established under Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs (JPPM), certifies yoga teachers, schools, associations, and federations by facilitating yoga membership to uphold yoga development, authenticity, accreditation, and accessibility through education, arts, sports, and cultural exchange. Yoga membership expanded in several countries, aligning with international sports organizations and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
