Sivananda Yoga

Surya Namaskara in Sivananda Yoga is practiced as a graceful sequence of twelve postures, performed with slow, mindful movements and synchronized breathing to awaken prana (life force) and prepare the body for deeper asana practice. It is typically done at the beginning of a session to warm up the spine, stretch major muscle groups, and promote mental focus. Emphasizing relaxation and awareness, this version of Sun Salutation supports the holistic goals of Sivananda Yoga—integrating physical health, breath control, and spiritual grounding in a balanced, meditative flow.
