Yoga Bandhas are specific energy locks used in yogic practices to control the flow of prana (vital energy) within the body. By engaging and constricting certain muscle groups, Bandhas help to redirect energy, increase internal pressure, and support the stability of the body during asana and pranayama. The three main Bandhas are Mula Bandha (root lock), Uddiyana Bandha (abdominal lock), and Jalandhara Bandha (throat lock). Incorporating Bandhas into practice enhances energy circulation, strengthens the core, and promotes greater focus and concentration. These locks are essential for controlling the flow of energy, improving alignment, and deepening the overall experience of yoga, ultimately preparing the practitioner for advanced meditation and spiritual practices.
